Luis was born November 7, 1991 in Odessa, Texas. Luis continued to go back and forth from the United States to Mexico. When Luis was 16 living in Kermit, Texas, he repented of his sins and started living according to Jesus in baptism. Huguette was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, on August 17, 1984. She grew up in a Methodist congregation where her parents served and where she was baptized at the age of 12.
Luis moved back to Chihuahua, Mexico, and began attending a Methodist congregation, where his heart for evangelism was opened and he led many people to know about Jesus.
Luis and Huguette met in January of 2008 at their local Methodist congregation in Chihuahua and were married on June 15, 2013.
Luis’ desire to further his education brought the couple to the United States in 2013.
His desire to share Jesus with others and his fervent prayers for God’s guidance to go to the right congregation led him to a mission-minded congregation where he could serve — the Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock, Texas. After some thoughtful and heartfelt conversations with Larry Thurne and Truitt Adair, Luis and Huguette enrolled in the Sunset International Bible Institute.
After studying for one year, he was on a mission trip in Phnom Pen, Cambodia and detemined that for him to teach and share Christ’s baptism, he wanted to be baptized again. So on June 6, 2015, he was baptized in Cambodia by his friend and mentor, Dan Wilson. Right afterward, Luis baptized his wife, Huguette, for the forgiveness of her sins and to receive the Holy Spirit.
